Regional Arts Mentors Advisory Meeting The Kansas Arts Commission is forming a regional arts mentor program (Kansas Arts Network) that will, working with the KAC, guide and assist community arts organizations and artists. Please join us for a brainstorming meeting! We are looking to develop a plan to select mentor organizations, train them, and outline job responsibilities and reporting. We want to hear your thoughts, ideas, needs and concerns. Thursday, September 13, 2007 1:00 – 3:00 pm Mid American All Indian Center Administrative Office 650 N. Strategic Plan Survey The Kansas Arts Commission is completing a year-long strategic planning process on September 21, at the quarterly Commission meeting in Concordia. The Commissioners are expected to formerly adopt our new strategic plan. We thank everyone who participated in the process -- from those who attended meeting to those who responded to the online questionnaire. If adopted, the new plan will be posted here on September 24, 2007, and will serve as the Kansas Arts Commission's guide for future activities until 2012. The Business of Art Seminars In conjunction with the Kansas Small Business Development Center, the Kansas Arts Commission is offering business information seminars to Kansas artists and arts businesses. These free seminars will be held: Thursday, September 27, 6:00 – 8:00 pm Lied Center of Kansas Conference Room, Lawrence Tuesday, October 2, 6:00 – 8:00 pm Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex, Wichita Thursday, October 18, 6:30 – 9:30 pm Garden City Community College, Student and Community Services Center Key topics will include: * Writing business plans * Creating budgets * Marketing * Financing your business * Accounting and taxes * Obtaining permits and licenses Registration is required.
